ASTM A333 Grade 6 Pipe

ASTM A333 Grade 6 Pipe

Standard Low-Temperature Carbon Steel (LTCS) Pipe

ASTM A333 Grade 6 is the most widely specified carbon steel pipe for low-temperature service. Unlike Grade 3 which uses high Nickel, Grade 6 achieves its low-temperature properties through careful grain refinement and heat treatment (Normalized or Quenched & Tempered). It is designed to maintain high impact toughness at temperatures down to -50°F (-45°C), making it the industry standard for mid-range cryogenic and cold-climate oil and gas applications.

Features and Benefits of A333 Grade 6 Pipe

  • Reliable impact toughness at temperatures as low as -45°C
  • Excellent weldability using standard LTCS welding procedures
  • Cost-effective alternative to high-alloy stainless steel for mid-low temperatures
  • Fine-grained structure ensured through normalization heat treatment
  • Suitable for both pressure piping and structural applications in cold climates
  • Available in a wide variety of wall thicknesses and diameters

Applications & Uses

Gas Gathering

Ideal for gathering and transmission lines in regions where ground temperatures drop below freezing.

LPG Transport

Commonly used in the handling and storage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Offshore Rigs

Essential for deck piping and equipment on offshore platforms in cold-water environments.
