ASTM A671 EFW Pipe

ASTM A671 Pipe

Electric-Fusion-Welded Steel Pipe for Atmospheric and Lower Temperatures

ASTM A671 is a standard specification for electric-fusion-welded (EFW) steel pipe with filler metal added, fabricated from pressure-vessel quality plate. These pipes are primarily used for atmospheric and lower-temperature service. Unlike standard ERW pipes, A671 pipes are manufactured from high-quality plates (such as ASTM A516) and are available in various classes (Class 10 to 73) based on the type of heat treatment and non-destructive examination (NDE) performed.

Features and Benefits of ASTM A671 Pipe

  • Ideal for large-diameter transport where seamless pipes are unavailable
  • Manufactured from pressure-vessel quality plate for superior safety
  • Flexible manufacturing allows for precise custom wall thicknesses
  • Excellent impact properties at lower temperatures (Grades CC60/CC70)
  • Full radiographic testing (Class 12+) ensures weld integrity
  • High structural stability for heavy-duty industrial foundations

Applications & Uses

Oil & Gas

Used in large-diameter cross-country pipelines for crude oil and gas gathering.

Power Plants

Applied in circulating water systems and cooling water piping for thermal plants.

Water Mains

The primary choice for municipal high-pressure water transmission and drainage lines.
